Steps that go into making a podcast that you never realize

Hey so I've been mentioning this way too much on the podcast lately btw I love my show! Beyond grateful for it all but what I keep mentioning is the steps I think vs what is for editing for the podcast. So here are some of my things and if you're starting a podcast it might help you.

1. Echoing- this might not seem like a big deal or notice but I've grown impatient and posted just to keep up with the time scheduled for the podcast which is good in many ways except when you have edited down the pauses/spaces and tested how loud audio is but fail to see the echo in the background... ( if you're using final cut pro don't hit hum removal at least in my experience makes the echo worse.) Also, depending on what type of room you have you may need to add some basic effects. For example, I have to use the filter of medium room small dark setting on final cut pro x to get a lot of extra noise out of way. As well as an expander with the crisp-up feature... If you're wondering more here are the tutorials from youtube.

2. Video problems- If you're also posting online the full video episode this is another process that can sometimes take a while... You need to remove sometimes the audio from the video using the clearer audio from the microphone and it can get a little complicated. Sometimes I listen to both audio and video to see which one is clearer ( usually it's audio recording) but in the event, it isn't this can save you time with editing the audio & video together that way everything is equal. One thing to be aware of with the video from your phone or newer cameras is that a lot of the software editing tools are still SDR more for some reason and that you need to put the HDR filter on it to fix the over exposure ( here's the vid for reference hdr).

3. Time most important- Nothing takes just 10 minutes to fix even when I think I'm almost finished I catch more up and spend at least another 30 min -1 hour + fixing it. It's very much worth it so if you're a scheduled person that's the best thing for this.

Hope some of this brings insight and if you're considering doing a podcast be a little help...

Thanks for reading
